ROCKET REFERENCES PAGE 2

"Uncle Chris has a natural ability to make learning exciting and fun for all (including the teachers)."

Thank you so very much for bringing to life the story of Texas for all of our students at Hutsell Elementary School. Your most entertaining presentation, as well as "Rocket" your robotic dog, were such a hit!

The students were able to take the materials you gave them and return to their classes and compose stories of their own. The amount of Texas history and facts you included was simply amazing.

I would highly recommend your program to any school in Texas. You have a natural ability to make learning exciting and fun for all (including the teachers).

"...through the wonderful book, Rocket Megabytes Texas Adventure, we could continue to keep the kids excitement about writing and Texas history long after the visit."

We had “Uncle Chris” and Rocket visit our schools in October of 2003. Not only were they entertaining, but the students came away excited about writing and Texas history. On our second grade campus, Chris demonstrated how fun it could be to write your own story. For our 3rd and 4th graders, he used a terrific game show format to teach about facts and locations all around Texas. Chris’ enthusiasm was contagious, and the kids and teachers had a ball!

I real ly enjoyed working with Robert before Chris and Rocket arrived. He did everything he could to make it easy for me to organize their visit. We kept in touch via email and telephone almost daily. We corresponded so much that after the visit, we both felt as if a friend was gone. One day I look forward to meeting him face to face.

Because of all of the pre-planning, this was the least stressful author visit I’ve ever sponsored. Chris was not demanding, but was considerate and a gentleman. He was prompt and professional, but most of all he was adored by the kids.

Of course one of the best benefits of this team is that, through the wonderful book, Rocket Megabyte’s Texas Adventure, we could continue to keep the kids’ excitement about writing and Texas history long after the visit. I purchased one copy of the book for each teacher to place in her classroom library. These were shipped early, along with a great video, to create excitement before the visit. Teachers are continuing to use the book in the classroom and the kids are still asking for the book in the library, even though it has been several months since our visit. They were also excited to see a picture of a robot dog in an almanac lesson I was doing with them recently. All I heard was, “There’s Rocket! Cool, it’s Rocket Megabyte!” That proved to me that Chris had made an impression on them.

I would highly recommend Chris, Robert and Rocket as a wonderful choice for a fun-filled, low-stress author visit. You can’t go wrong!

"I thought the program was excellent and held the children's attention."

I thought the program was excellent and held the children's attention. We sent out evaluation forms to the teachers after Chris' visit and we had very positive feedback. They felt that the kids were involved, the presentation was interactive, the author was animated and captured everone's attention. They are using The Story Window in their classes today, so they also felt that they g ot a good writing strategy to use in the classroom.

"The program is outstanding - fun and informative at the same time."

The program is outstanding - fun and informative at the same time. Any school involved in a strong writing program will benefit from Chris' input. It made a huge impact. The Texas history program makes a wonderful point about making "boring" subjects fun. Good for students AND teachers.

"They laughed, participated, and became thoroughly engrossed in the story weaving talents of Uncle Chris."

"Uncle Chris" spent the day with us as Longbranch Elementary. Our students were mesmerized by his presentation. They are like all children today who watch more T.V. than we would like and play hours of video games. They are not easy to keep engaged for an extended period of time. This was not the case with Uncle Chris. I had as much fun watching the faces of the students in the audience as I did watching the performance. They laughed, participated, and became thoroughly engrossed in the story weaving talents of Uncle Chris. Thank you for bringing a presentation to our students that was equally entertaining and educational.
